Event Description:

Are you keeping track of your business expenses? Does deducting business expenses allow you to lower your tax obligation? What are some red flag expenses? Let’s discuss common business expenses and how do you use them.

Featured Speaker:

Denise Smalls is President of Guided By You, which is a Financial and Employability company. Denise has a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and an MBA with a concentration in Finance. She has also achieved several professional certifications, including Financial and Career Coaching, Credit Counseling, and is a certified Master Practitioner in Financial Capability.

Denise has worked in the tax arena for more than ten years. Initially, Denise worked with a local tax service organization and then moved on to work with the IRS to create free tax services for the community. While Denise has extensive experience in program development, she also provides tax instruction, consults on methods to effectively operate a tax site, and helps others navigate the path to becoming a tax reviewer. Additionally, she places high importance on financial literacy and educates individuals about their tax documents and how they could save money in the future on their taxes.

Denise created the award-winning Money $ense program for local nonprofit organizations. Numerous facilities through the Orlando Metroplex utilized the Money $ense program, including CareerSource, Salvation Army, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, and United Against Poverty. The program has assisted more than 1,000 Floridians to achieve their financial goals.
