Join us at The Big ICF-GA Chapter VIRTUAL Meeting: Coaching Individuals on the Autism Spectrum to Employment Success

1.5 TBD CCEs

Description:

The CDC estimates that 2.21% of adults in the US navigate life on the Autism Spectrum. Many individuals on the autism spectrum – including those with college degrees – struggle to choose the right job or career and get hired. Coaching has much to offer if you understand how to adapt traditional models to the needs of this neurodivergent population. The presenter shares insight developed during her work with more than 1,000 clients, emphasizing assisting individuals seeking competitive (not sheltered or heavily supported) employment.

This presentation offers practical strategies for guiding these clients to manageable employment. You will learn:

▪ How autism impacts adults in the workplace

▪ Communication, executive function, and sensory processing challenges you need to be aware of

▪ Strengths associated with those on the spectrum

▪ Tips for assessing coaching readiness, building rapport, and creating realistic action plans
